On Going Volunteer Opportunities:
HOME REPAIR/BEAUTIFICATION PROJECTS FOR FLOWER MOUND RESIDENTS IN NEED
We are starting up a new program called KFMB Helping Hand Initiative. This is to help residents in Flower Mound to fix up the appearance of their home, landscaping, fencing ... to correct code violations. This is for residents who can not otherwise do the repairs due to health, disability, or age and is totally depending on the funds that are available and volunteers willing to work with us.
A photographer is needed to attend KFMB events and take photos of participants and activities to have posted on our Facebook page, the website, and on our Flickr account. Please send us an email or give us a call if you are interested.
Many of our Lend A Hand homes require extensive landscape and manitenece in order to avoid citations and other fees. We are currently looking for someone who can remove large shrubs/ weeds/ and trees. If you or your company would like to dedicate a few hours each month to the elderly in Flower Mound email us directly.
STORM WATER MONITORING
Volunteers will be trained in the Texas Stream Team program—a state-wide volunteer training program—to take measurements of dissolved oxygen, pH, temperature, and conductivity in water samples. This information offers a good indication of the health of the stream and provides baseline data to be used in future planning. This program is also an excellent way to participate in the community, help protect local resources, and enjoy the outdoors by volunteering just 2 hours a month.
